NASA has unveiled photographs of a significant impact crater on the lunar surface, measuring approximately 18 meters in diameter, which was created by the debris of a SpaceX rocket.

The global social media and internet sphere has highlighted various compelling stories, and one of them is the image of an 18-meter crater formed by SpaceX rocket debris on the Moon. Clear evidence of an impact, resembling a projectile striking the rugged lunar terrain, is visible in the photographs.

The U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) released the image of the lunar crater, formed by the aforementioned SpaceX rocket remnants. This debris originated from the upper stage of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that was launched in January of the previous year, carrying a private lunar lander.

After completing its mission, the rocket stage drifted in space for over a year before impacting the Moon near the Einstein crater on the western side of the lunar surface at a speed exceeding 8,000 kilometers per hour on the 5th of this month.

Subsequently, NASA, in collaboration with the Korea Aerospace Administration, successfully obtained precise imagery of the impact site by utilizing preliminary data collected by the lunar orbiter Danuri.

NASA officials emphasized that while the impact generated a crater approximately 18 meters in diameter and 3 meters deep, it poses no threat to Earth or the Moon. Instead, they anticipate that the observational data gathered from this event will be invaluable for ensuring the safety of future astronauts and critical infrastructure destined for the Moon.
